Product Description

Long Haul 24 AWG Mini Displayport Extension Cable - 25 foot, 35 foot, 50 foot

We can make this cable in any length up to 17 meters long, please contact us for a custom quote.

Our Long Haul Mini Displayport extension cable is the perfect solution for extending the connection even further from your new Apple Cinema Display to your new generation Macbook, Macbook Pro, or Macbook Air. This cable uses 24 AWG cable to allow the signal to travel much further than a conventional mini displayport cable. The larger size of the conductors required us to create customized larger overmolds and PCB boards. What this means to the end user is that you may lose accessibility to the port immediately adjacent to the mini displayport on your Macbook or iMac. If this is a problem for your application we also offer a dongle that can be purchased with the cable so you do not have to plug the 24 AWG cable directly into the side of your computer. The dongle is a male to female mini displayport extension cable offered in 3 foot and 6 inch lengths. 3 Foot dongles are designed to have very high insertion/retention force on the female side so the heavy 24AWG cable does not fall out. It is now required that a dongle be purchased with this adapter. The cable is so heavy that the mini displayport socket cannot support the connector and can cause some issues. With the dongle you won't have any issues with the alignment of the connector into the mini displayport socket on your computer.

Cable is compatible with Apple mini-displayport products and will be in Apples typical gloss white color to match your Apple products.

Specs:

  • 8.64 Gbit/s forward link channel supports high resolution monitors up to 2560x1600 with single cable.

  1. worked at first but then....

Posted by sam on 26th Aug 2011

i bought the 25' cable and when i first connected it to my 24" apple led cinema display it seemed to work fine. after a few hours i noticed the occasional drop out where the screen would go black for about half a second. this would happen about every 15 mins or so. i checked my connections and noticed that if slightly moved the connection to the 3' dongle the drop outs would occur. after i rechecked the connections it seemed to be fine with no drop outs for about 1 day. then suddenly the screen went black and stayed black. if i plug the monitor directly in to the dongle it works fine however once i introduce the 25' extension cable the monitor only receives a black signal. this suggests to me that there is a connection fault at the male end of the 25' extension cable. ive asked for a replacement and if i get one that works at no extra cost to me then this review will go up to 5 stars. i get the feeling i got a dud...

  2. I would buy this product

Posted by Gee now i wish my name was also thomas but its shaymus on 22nd Jul 2011

... because two guys named thomas said it was good, and at least one of them was using it for the same reason I plan on using it for.

Curious about audio/midi latency, but for recording, its a must have. Even though MBP's are quiet, a decent mic will turn that sound into a jet plane.

  3. FINALLY - something that works with a 27" LCD Mac Display

Posted by Thomas Tomchak on 12th Apr 2011

I was looking high and low to find a 20' extender that would not only work with the 27" Mac Cinema Display, but also do it at the same native resolution. I tried a cheaper solution from another well known website, but the cable was not of good enough quality.

This cable is nice and heavy and you can tell it's very well made. I recommend getting the 3' extension so that the weight of the cable does not pull on the video card.

So using this cable I'm finally able to enjoy my beautiful LCD a full 25' from the MacPro tower (my setup required it to be that distance away since it's an edit suite and other hardware is hooked up to the tower directly).

Thanks for making such a great product CA. I will be back in the future for sure.

  4. works perfect.

i am in the audio business and was waiting for that solution. because i have all noisy equipment in another room .
no quality loss at all with that AWG24 extension. works perfect.
i am using a 35 feet and another 6 feet cable as a dongle.
tried it without a dongle on my mac pro. but the pins don't get enough contact.
    greetings from germany.
