27" iMac Video Input With Xbox 360? - Page 17 - Mac Forums

You can see some screens of him playing MW2 on the iMac, without any lag at all!

So if CA wants to sell some adapters, they should really hurry I guess. People are already ordering iMac's because of this news and will order the Atlona if nobody else comes up with an alternative.

Any news from CA?? Andrew?
Essentially what CA is doing now is starting a new project with a more competent supplier of IC boards and software. Our goal is to be able to have an adapter that can be used as an HDMI or DVI to mini displayport converter by using a DVI to DVI cable or DVI to HDMI cable in combination with the adapter. The biggest difficulty we are encountering is making sure that the software of the adapter supports all potential video sources instead of just a few video cards.

While we develop this we will have an intermediate adapter available to be ordered from our website beginning next week December 21st.

I do apologize to everyone for the delay if you have been waiting for the CA adapter. Unfortunately a cost effective solution doesn't look like it will be available until early next year.

Thumbs up Finally!

We're happy to announce that we will begin shipping a DVI to Mini Displayport Adapter tomorrow. We have put the product up on our website and it is now available for order. At this time we only have ten but we will be getting many more in stock soon. The price still beats our competition so we are happy with that. We are still working to improve our adapter and plan on releasing an updated version that will include the USB pass through we wanted but this adapter does not.

Please visit our product page for more information: http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/DVI-to-Mini-Displayport-Adapter.html

Question Will it work with a Nintendo Wii?

Hi,

I want to connect my Nintendo Wii console to the 27" iMac. As far as I know, the Wii only outputs an analog signal, which I could convert to DVI-A or DVI-I. Would that work as an input for your adapter?

Thanks,

Matt

I noticed in the product description that work is being done on a dual link version to achieve resolutions higher than 720p on the 27" iMac. Is there any guess how soon this one will be available?

I'd hate to have such a capable display and not use the max resolution for xbox360 graphics.

I find it very weird from Apple that they don't accept a 1080P input. It's obvious that they did it on purpose! But not very userfriendly if you're asking me.

Well, apples display technically does accept 1080p, just that it only accepts it via mini dp. This adapter helps convert a signal to mdp compatible, but an adapter is needed to convert dual link dvi (as opposed to single dvi like this one)

from what it sounds like, this is possible with the help of the CA guys' work, it would just be a different adapter than this first one they've released.

Can I ask is it possible that your device will ever be able to break out to HDMI with support for audio over HDMI?

I would love to plug my ps3 into my 24" ACD but with the device breaking out to DVI and my using a converter cable it's not going to carry audio is it? Could this be a potential update to a later version of your device?

Also, the 24" ACD runs at 1920x1200, does your adaptor distort or stretch the image in any way to fit? So say if i had a 1080 image would it be stretched 120 pixels to fill the screen?

I really hope HDMI implementation can come about for this little device as although I love my 24" Apple display I've been having dark thoughts about flogging it and getting a dell just so i can plug in with HDMI, displayport component, etc etc etc ... As I said, dark thoughts.

I thank you for your time in answering. Been keeping my eye on this interesting thread for a while now.
Kindest, ian
